The Helse-Nord Tuberculosis Initiative
A center for infectious disease research excellence.
The HNTI was established in 2010 as a collaborative effort by a consortium of experts from the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly the University of Malawi College of Medicine) and the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme, and is supported by funding from the Helse Nord RHF.
A capacity building initiative
The Helse-Nord Tuberculosis Initiative is dedicated to inspiring and supporting new generations of scientists and researchers through trainings, research and collaborations.
HNTI operates as a research entity within the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), with the long-term goal of becoming a center for excellence in TB, HIV and other infectious diseases' research in sub-Saharan Africa. The success of HNTI revolves around teamwork (promoting mutual respect and recognition), creativism (creating an environment that nurtures creativity and idealism), professionalism (employing skills and competencies of its staff), and career growth (encouraging professional development).
